Apple Pie

5 To 6 Cups apples, pared, cored, and thinly sliced
1/2 Cup sugar or brown sugar
1/8 Teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 Teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 Tablespoon margarine
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
2 Nine inch pie shells
Combine sugar, salt, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Sift over apples. Stir apples gently until they are well coated. Place them in layers in a pie shell. Dot with the margarine. Sprinkle lemon juice over pie crust. Cover the pie crust with a pricked upper crust. Tuck the edges under. Bake in 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350 degree oven. Bake until done, 35 to 45 minutes or until the apples are tender. If the crumb crust is becoming too brown, protect with a foil covering until apples are tender
