Salisbury Steak

Portion Size: 4 oz. 

Ingredients: Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients Notes: 
4 slices of bread May use whole wheat 
1/2 cup nonfat milk 
2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 
1 teaspoon salt 
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
4 strips lean turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
2/3 cup bread crumbs 
For gluten free (GF): Use GF bread and GF bread crumbs. Always check each ingredient to be sure it is gluten free.

1Remove the crusts from the bread and soak bread in the milk until soft.
2Squeeze our excess milk, then lightly mix the moist bread with the ground beef until thoroughly absorbed.
3Add the salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce and shape into a large round about 1 inch thick.Divide into 8 servings.
4Preheat the broiler.
5Place meat on an oiled broiler rack and cook 4 inches from heat on one side for 5 minutes, then turn and sprinkle the bacon and the bread crumbs over the top and broil another 5-6 minutes until done. Cook until internal temperature reaches165 F degrees for 15 seconds
