Beef Barley Soup

2 Pounds stew beef
5 stalks celery, diced
1 large onion, diced
2 carrots stalks, peeled and sliced
1 Cup medium pearl barley
1 Tablespoon basil
1/4 cup parsley flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 16-ounce can stewed tomatoes
Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Fill slow cooker within 2 inches of the top with hot water and cook for 6 hours on high heat covered. Serves 8.
