Turkey Teriyaki Burgers with Pineapple on Whole Wheat Buns

Portion Size:  4 oz. burger on bun

Ingredients: Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients Notes: 
2 1/2 Pounds lean ground raw turkey(or chicken)
1 large appleWashed, peeled and finely shredded
1 c. brown cooked rice 
1 small onionWashed, peeled and minced
3 garlic clovesWashed, peeled and minced
2 teaspoons sage
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 Tablespoons parsley flakes
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 Whole wheat hamburger buns
8 sliced pineapple ringsDrained
¼ cup thick teriyaki sauce

1In a large bowl, combine turkey, apple, rice, onion, garlic, sage, salt, pepper, thyme, pepper, and parsley. 
2Divide into eight sections. Form each section into a patty
3In a large skillet, spray pan with nonstick cooking spray and heat on medium Cook until juice run clear or about 6-7 minutes on each side at high heat.Instant read meat thermometer needs to read 165 degrees.
4Serve on Buns with pineapple, cheese and teriyaki sauce
