2/3 cup flour | |
1/2 teaspoon salt | |
3 teaspoons vinegar | |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda | |
2/3 cup water | |
BBQ sauce (optional) |

1 | Cut chicken into 1 X 1/2-inch pieces. | |
2 | Heat oil (2 to 3 inches) in a deep fryer or Dutch oven to 360 degrees. | |
3 | Mix flour and salt. Separately, mix vinegar and baking soda. Stir vinegar mixture and water into flour mixture; beat until smooth. | |
4 | Dip chicken into batter, allowing excess batter to drip into bowl. | |
5 | Fry chicken in hot oil, 4 or 5 pieces at a time until golden brown and done, about 4 minutes; drain. | Cook until chicken reaches internal temperature of 165 degrees F. |
6 | Serve with BBQ sauce to dip. |
