Turkey Patty Melts
Portion Size: 4 oz. patty on 2 slices bread

2 1/2 Pounds lean ground turkey | |
½ teaspoon garlic powder | |
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper | |
16 slices | Use whole wheat buns. |
1 large onion | Washed, peeled and diced. |
8 slices cheese | |
¼ cup margarine, soften | |
2 tablespoons catsup | (optional) |
2 tablespoons mustard | (optional) |

1 | Mix ground turkey with garlic and pepper. | |
2 | Form turkey into eight equal beef patties. | |
3 | Broil, grill, or sauté until no longer pink inside. Set aside | Cook until internal temperature reaches 165 F degrees for 15 seconds |
4 | Sauté onion until tender. Set aside. | |
5 | Spread 1 slice of slice of bread with margarine. | |
6 | Heat pan to medium high heat. Place bread with the side down in pan. Top with hamburger, onions, and cheese. May add mustard or catsup as desired. Top with another slice of bread with the margarine side out. Turn when bread is golden brown. Serve immediately warm. |
