Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients Notes: 
2 cups flour 
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine
½ cup low fat shredded cheese 
2/3 cup nonfat milk
For gluten free (GF): Use GF all purpose flour and GF baking powder. Always check each ingredient to be sure it is gluten free.

1Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  
2In a bowl stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt.  
3Cut in margarine till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  
4Make a well into the center; add milk and cheese all at once.  Stir just till dough clings together.  
5On a lightly flour surface, knead dough gently for 10 to 12 strokes.
6Roll  or pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness.  
7Cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter in flour between cuts.  
8Transfer biscuits to baking sheet.  
9Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
