Cheese Garlic Biscuits

1 teaspoons baking soda | |
1/2 teaspoon salt | |
½ teaspoon garlic powder | |
1/2 cup margarine or butter | |
2/3 cup lowfat shredded cheese | |
1 cup butter milk |

1 | Preheat oven to 450 degrees. | |
2 | Cut the margarine into tine cubes and set aside until ready to use. | |
3 | In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder | |
4 | Using a pastry blender or fork, cut the margarine into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse, small peas. | |
5 | Stir in the Cheddar and parsley. | |
6 | With a sturdy spoon, stir in buttermilk just until the dough comes together. Do not over mix. | |
7 | Drop heaping a spoonful of dough onto the baking sheet spacing each about 2 inches apart. | |
8 | Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 10. |
