Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Portion Size: 4 oz. 

Ingredients: Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients Notes: 
2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons minced onionWash, peel and mince
1/2 cup cooked  riceMay use brown rice
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cans low sodium tomato sauce 
1 teaspoon basil
1 tablespoon sugar 
1 teaspoon garlic powder 
1 teaspoon oregano

1Combine meat, salt, rice, pepper, and onion.
2Shape into balls.
3Brown in a skillet.
4Drain fat.
5Combine tomato sauce with basil, sugar, garlic powder and oregano. 
6Pour over meat balls.
7Cook about 30 minutes over low heat. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165 F degrees for 15 seconds
