French Onion Sandwiches
Portion Size: 1 sandwich (2 starch, 2 oz. beef cubed steaks, 1 oz. cheese)

1 tablespoon olive oil | |
4 (4-ounce) lean beef cubed steaks | |
2 Medium onion | Washed, slice and separate into rings |
2 cups low sodium beef broth | |
2 tablespoon cornstarch | |
3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce | |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder | |
4 French bread, rolls | Toasted and cut into half |
4 1-ounce slices lowfat Swiss cheese | Halved |

1 | Heat olive oil in pan | |
2 | Add steaks and cook over medium high heat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or till done | Internal temperature should reach 165 degrees |
3 | Remove from skillet, reserving drippings | |
4 | Cook onion in drippings till tender | |
5 | Combine broth, cornstarch, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and a dash of pepper | |
6 | Add to skillet. Cook and stir till bubbly | |
7 | Place steaks on bread with cheese and onion mixture | Use 2 oz. steak and 1 oz. cheese |
