Asparagus, Steamed

Portion Size: ½ cup asparagus 

Ingredients:     Yields: 8 servings

4 cups bunch fresh asparagusWashed and trimmed
3 cups water

1Place water in the bottom half of a steamer pan set 
2Trim the dry ends off of the asparagus. 
3If the spears are too thick, peel them lightly with a vegetable peeler. 
4Place them in the top half of the steamer pan set. 
5Steam for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness of the asparagus, or until asparagus is tender.Cook until internal temperature reaches 135°F.
